Campfire Chronicles
Get ready to spread your wings at camp without your adults! Explore camp traditions, make new friends, and create lots of great memories! We will be spending a lot of time around the campfire - cooking, storytelling, laughing, and singing loud! Your days will be spent doing traditional camp activities like archery, canoeing, and water games.
Remember to mark your name on ALL items brought to camp! After camp is over the lost and found will be located at the Girl Scout service center.
What to Bring
- Backpack/bag for carrying items throughout the day
- Sundscreen
- Bug spray
- Hat/bandana
- Hair tie (if needed)
- Reusable water bottle
- Camp chair (not sit-upon)
- Medications - In original bottle/package and in a palst ic bag labeled with fist and last name. Both girls and adults must turn in all medications to the camp healthcare coordinator.
- SWAPS
- Rain poncho or jacket that provides rain protection
- Plast bag/garbage sack for wet/dirty clothing
- Dunk kits that include bowl and utensils
- Dakota Dough/money for afternoon canteen
- Girls are allowed to bring a camera (not a phone) - council cannot be help responsible for any damage/loss
- Medical form (attached to camp confirmation email, all girls need to complete)
- Sleeping bag, pillow, blankets - fitted twin size sheet for bunk mattress
- Toiletries in a bag - toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary supplies, shampoo, etc
- Deodorant
- Close-toed shoes
- Pajamas
- Sets of clothes for each day - it is always good to pack a few extra items
- Long pants and tall socks for hiking
- Sweatshirt/jacket
- Swimsuit (or similar clothing for canoeing and swimming) and towel
- Water shoes - required for swimming and canoeing
- Flashlight (not required)
- Washcloths/bath towel
- Girls are encouraged to bring a comfort item from home for bedtime/quiet time (suffed animal, favorite book, ect - nothing that makes noise)
Important Notes about Clothing
- Dress appropriately for the weather – please check the forecast before coming to camp
- Wear/Pack clothes that can get dirty
- No open toed, open heeled, or open sided shoes (NO sandals, flip-flops, crocs, clogs except for use as shower shoes)
- We discourage tank tops and sleeveless shirts (to avoid sunburn and bug bites)
- No short shirts (tummies need to be covered) or shorty-shorts
- Bring light weight long-sleeve shirt and long pants (cool evenings/mornings, bugs, hiking activities)
- Wear comfortable walking, athletic style shoes (closed-toed, closed-top, closed-heeled)
- Socks are required with shoes
- Water shoes – Girls are required to have water shoes for canoeing and lake swimming; shoes need to tie or have straps that will keep shoes on their feet (no flip-flops)
What NOT to Bring
- Personal electronics, electronic games, etc (includes Kindles)
- Hair dryings or electric grooming equipment
- Food or snacks of any kind
- Girls may NOT bring cell phones or smart watches to this camp. This camp is about disconnecting, making new friends, and enjoying the outdoors.
