  • Upload photo via contest entry form.
  • 3 troops will be randomly selected to win a pizza party for their troop (value $100).

5 for 5 toggle arrow

When customers buy 5 boxes of cookies, they can enter into an online drawing to win 5 cases (60 boxes)! GSDH will provide the cookies to the winners at no cost to troops participating. The 5 for 5 Promotion was designed to not only give customers a fun chance to win more cookies, but also help girls and troops increase their cookie sales.

For Customers
When customers (5 winners) buy 5 boxes of cookies, they can enter into an online drawing to win 5 cases (60 boxes)!

For Troops
Troops that sell to the 5 winners will also receive 5 cases of cookies to donate to a place of their choice. Winning troops will also receive a $25 GSDH retail gift certificate.

Here’s how it works:

  • Troops and girls can print the flyer and entry cards to promote the contest at cookie booths (or anytime they are selling cookies).
  • Troops add their five digit troop number as the unique code on the business cards.
  • When a customer purchases five or more boxes they are given a business card. A customer can enter the contest for every multiple of five boxes purchased.
  • Five winners will be announced on Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons Facebook page on April 1.
  • GSDH will provide cookies and facilitate pickup with the winners.
Heroes on the Horizon toggle arrow

Girl Scouts have a long tradition of making the world a better place and knowing the importance of community service and the value of giving back! During the Cookie Program, this can be achieved through our Heroes on the Horizon donation program.

Heroes on the Horizon encourages girls to ask customers/businesses to donate as little as $6 so cookies can find their way to military organizations, first responders and other local heroes throughout GSDH.

What a sweet deal! Encourage customers to buy one box of cookies for themselves and another to give - through the Heroes on the Horizon program. Amp up your Heroes on the Horizon contributions by using this box wrap. Printed copies will also be available in our Council Cookie Cupboards.

GSDH facilitates the delivery of cookies purchased through the Heroes on the Horizon program with organizations such a VA Hospitals, military outreach clinics, Feeding America/Backpack Program and several first responders throughout the council.

All Heroes on the Horizon donations count towards girl rewards and troop proceeds.

Credit Card Payments toggle arrow

Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons has decided not to allow troops to have Venmo accounts and no longer recommends using Square as a Third-Party Service Organization.  At the recommendation of GSUSA, third-party payment processor accounts should be set up under the council's tax ID when being used for Girl Scouting purposes, directly linked to a troop bank account as the depository bank account, and allow for council oversight to ensure this is happening.  Due to our geography and our council having 650+ troop and service unit bank accounts, we are currently not in a position to provide such oversight or the service provider does not allow multiple accounts under the same tax ID number.

Additionaly, due to tax law changes effective 1/1/22, Third-Party Service Organization account owners may receive a 1099-K if the total amount paid to them from all sources equals $600 or more in a calendar year.  Volunteers using these third party payments are putting themselves at risk of receiving a 1099-K, which would potentially affect their personal tax returns.

GSDH follows GSUSA's recommendation of utilizing Digital Cookie for credit card sales for both in person and booth sales. The app is easy to use and allows for optical scanning of cards to improve the contactless payment process.  Also, GSDH pays the processing fees, which are about a fourth of the cost compared to Square.
