Position Summary
The Troop Engagement Specialist role is a key member of the
Mission Delivery team and is responsible for providing the support,
programming experience and retention of members.
This
role actively works with and engages volunteers while fostering
positive service unit (community of volunteers and girls in a
geographic area) relationships that are critical for member retention
and satisfaction.
Major Accountabilities-Mission Delivery
- Plan, develop and support delivery of service unit and troop led programs and services that are equitable, inclusive and accessible leadership experiences that engage and retain girls and volunteers.
- Collaborate with Service Unit and Member Experience team to develop and execute annual Service Unit assessments in an assigned geography and develop action plans where needed.
- Actively engage with Service Unit leadership by attending in person or virtual meetings on a regular schedule for assigned geography.
- Collaborate with the Membership Department to assist with recruitment, renewal and retention activities at the service unit and troop level. Actively track and communicate progress on support, engagement and retention results.
- Support the council’s volunteer management system including the retention, selection, placement, training, recognition, and re-assignment of volunteers.
- Arrange and facilitate product program trainings and similar support at the Service Unit and troop level.
- Consistently coach and mentor volunteers through effective communication and strong relationships.
- Provide a high level of customer service to service units and troops by communicating regularly, problem solving and responding to troop and volunteer questions professionally and within 8 business hours. Enter information into member data systems in accordance with council procedures and timeframes.
- Lead and/or support council product program cookie cupboards, delivery of product, and other activities as well as completing all product program staff trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High School diploma. Associate’s Degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for the Girl Scouts Mission and values as well as for customer advocacy
- Strong sense of urgency and results-orientation are required
- Exceptional written, verbal, listening and interpersonal skills with the ability to be diplomatic, persuasive, and build support and commitment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes frequent travel, night and weekend hours as needed.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to successfully complete required pre-hire criminal and vehicle background screenings.
- Ability to maintain active, paid membership in GSUSA annually
- Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance
Working Conditions/Physical and Safety Requirements
- This position will work in normal business or remote office environment conditions, as well as outdoors
- Ability to lift, move and transport up to 30 lbs regularly
- Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment
- Ability to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks
- Ability to stand, sit for long periods of time while delivering programming
