Empower Her was a totally rad experience held in Fargo and Rapid City this fall. The event brought together 50 girls (5th grade and up) and 15 adult volunteers for a day of empowerment, connection, and fun - 80s style!
Attendees showed up ready to take a trip back in time, donning their best acid-washed jeans and neon sneakers. With a variety of sessions to choose from, every attendee had the opportunity to build a day that was tailored to their interests and goals. Whether it was developing leadership abilities, exploring new passions, or simply meeting new people, there was something for everyone. Girl Scout Nikolena, from Rapid City, enjoyed the options to piece together a day all for her.
“The coordinators really listened to our opinions and what we wanted to do, making it personalized and accommodating for all girls who attended,” Nikolena said.
Engaging workshops and inspiring speakers covered topics such as healthy eating through a smoothie challenge, travel opportunities within Girl Scouts, identifying strengths, managing negative self-talk, career development, and more. Attendee feedback is already being used to shape future events.
