Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons proudly recognizes local Girl Scouts who are part of the 2026 Girl Scout Gold Award class, who earned the highest award in Girl Scouting, the Gold Award. Gold Award Girl Scouts make positive impacts on our local communities by addressing some of the most pressing issues. We congratulate Madison Block of Webster, SD, for earning her Gold Award.
Madison earned her Girl Scout Gold Award through her Student Organization Awareness project. After noticing that many student clubs and programs at her school lacked visibility, she set out to help more students discover opportunities to get involved.
Madison painted the logos of five different organizations near their meeting rooms and classrooms to catch the attention of students passing by. She also created pamphlets and a tri-fold display highlighting each club during the school’s annual Back-to-School Barbecue.
Her accomplishments reflect leadership, citizenship, and foundational skills built through Girl Scouts.
Madison will be graduating from Webster Area High School this month. She will receive her award at the council’s Honoring Excellence recognition event to be held on June 14, 2026.
