Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons congratulates Shelby Zachmeier of Mandan, ND for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award to be achieved in Girl Scouts.
Shelby earned her Gold Award by completing her Fleece Hugs for Foster Kids Project. Dedicating more than 80 hours over a three-month period, Shelby worked to create blankets and toiletry kits for children in the foster care system. After gathering donations and supplies, she was able to donate 30 blankets, 30 hats, and 30 toiletry kits to help children in the foster care system in her county.
“I’m so glad I was able to impact these children’s lives in such a positive way and I hope that this can continue for many years to come,” said Shelby.
Shelby will receive her award at the council’s Honoring Excellence recognition event to be held on June 10, 2023.
