Girl Scouts-Dakota Horizons congratulates Alexis Clausen of Grand Forks, ND for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award to be achieved in Girl Scouts.
Alexis earned her Gold Award with her Welcoming Flower Boxes Project. For this project, Alexis wanted to create an inviting entrance to her church in an effort to gain new members. She learned how to build wooden planters and installed them near the entrance of her church. Since the installation, the church has gained close to 10 new members.
Her accomplishments reflect leadership, citizenship, and foundational skills built through Girl Scouts. “It means a lot to me because it signifies all the hard work that I have put in with my project and my journey through Girl Scouts,” Alexis said. “I wanted to prove myself and help out my community, which is dear to me.”
Alexis will receive her award at the council’s Honoring Excellence recognition event to be held on June 10, 2023.
Since 1916, Girl Scouts have been making meaningful, sustainable change in their communities and around the world. The Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement a Girl Scout can earn, acknowledges the power behind each Gold Award Girl Scout’s dedication to not only empowering and bettering herself but also to making the world a better place for others. These young women are courageous leaders and visionary change-makers. They are our future, and it looks bright!
