Girl Scout Troops 53124 and 40265 recently had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of baking during a special tour of Sweet N Sourdough Bakery in Rock Rapids, IA. The girls were given an inside look at how some of their favorite foods are made, with bakery owner Esther guiding them through the process of crafting the perfect loaf of sourdough bread.
Esther shared her expert knowledge, explaining the science behind baking and the delicate balance needed to create that delicious, crusty sourdough. After the informative demo, the girls got hands-on in the bakery, learning how to mix, shape, and bake their own loaves. Each troop member left with a freshly made sourdough loaf to take home and enjoy.
It was a fun and educational experience that combined food, science, and creativity – all served with a side of delicious bread!
