Girl Scouts know that making a difference often starts with noticing a need and asking, “What can we do?”
For the girls of Troop 33048, that question led them to the Ronald McDonald House in Fargo, ND, where they found a meaningful way to support families with children receiving medical care.
The troop planned and prepared a meal for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The girls worked together to decide what to make, create a budget, shop for ingredients, and prepare the food. They also donated snacks for the house’s pantry, giving families additional options to grab during their stay.
During their visit, the girls toured the Ronald McDonald House and learned more about the families who depend on the space. They talked about some of the challenges families can face when a child is hospitalized, from being far from home and missing work to navigating financial strain and medical expenses.
The experience gave the girls a chance to look beyond their own experiences and better understand what another family might be going through. More importantly, they learned that they have the ability to respond with kindness, compassion, and action.
Troop 33048 is showing what it means to discover the power within and use it to lift others up.
