Troop 50634 Explores Savannah
From Girl Scout history to dolphins and new adventures, Troop 50634 from Brookings, SD, packed five days of exploration into their recent trip to Savannah, GA.
Nine Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts, along with five volunteers, traveled from South Dakota to Georgia for an experience filled with learning, sightseeing, history, and plenty of time together.
The girls stepped into Girl Scout history with visits to Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low's Birthplace and Girl Scouts' First Headquarters, while also exploring the city through a trolley tour, the Telfair Art Museums, and a ghost tour. It wouldn't be a Girl Scout trip without earning a badge, which they completed at the Savannah Wildlife Refuge. The girls earned the Senior Eco-Explorer badge there.
Outside of the sightseeing, some of the girls’ favorite moments included spending time by the ocean and trying some new sweet treats.
“The girls especially enjoyed the dolphin cruise, trolley tour, Savannah Candy Kitchen, and time at the beach,” said Troop Co-Leader Wendy.
The group wrapped up their adventure with a visit to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta before heading home.
The trip was made possible in part through the girls’ hard work in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, Fall Product Program, and other fundraising activities.
“Overall, the trip provided a memorable mix of Girl Scout history, learning opportunities, sightseeing, and fun,” Wendy said.
