Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons congratulates Amanda W. of Rapid City, SD for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award to be achieved in Girl Scouts.
Amanda focused on the wellbeing of exotic animals for her project. She noticed that not everyone who adopted an exotic animal knew the proper ways to care for them. Different than a cat or a dog, exotic animals have specific needs, and care instructions, and some even require permits to own. To combat this issue, she created a website with care instructions for popular exotic animals and laws surrounding exotic animals in South Dakota.
Amanda will receive her award at the council's Honoring Excellence recognition event on June 9th.
