Earlier this month, twenty-five Girl Scouts and twelve volunteers gathered for a holiday party. The girls learned to decorate sugar cookies, made ornaments for their trees, and constructed snowflake decorations. In addition, the girls played several holiday-themed games.
In the true spirit of the season, the girls also brought toys for those in need in our community. The girls of the Brookings Service Unit collected 34 toys and donated them to the Brookings Foster Closet and a local family. The Brookings Foster Closet is a resource for local foster families to access clothes and hygiene supplies for children who are in the foster care system. They accept donations of gently used clothes as well as toiletries, diapers, and laundry detergent. These items are used locally by those who need us the most.
