Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons congratulates Alexa Larson of Hartford, SD for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award to be achieved in Girl Scouts.
Alexa earned her Gold Award with her A Park for Small Yet Mighty Dogs project. She dedicated years to planning, organizing, and completing her project. Now, her community has a brand-new dog park for smaller dogs to run off-leash. Working closely with the Hartford City Council and other city entities, Alexa was able to successfully coordinate and implement her project idea. The park is now open for area dogs and will be maintained by the city’s Park Department.
Her accomplishments reflect leadership, citizenship, and foundational skills built through Girl Scouts. “If it wasn’t for Girl Scouts, I would have never made the connections with people that I have today. I certainly would never have branched out and presented at the City Council, not only once, but three times,” said Alexa.
Alexa graduated in May 2023 and plans to attend the University of South Dakota to major in Kinesiology.
