Alexis earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by completing her Conservation for Kids project, a conservation education initiative that engaged youth across her community. She created a hands-on activity booklet and designed a custom patch program to reinforce learning and encourage continued involvement. Through events with local Girl Scouts, community groups, daycares, churches, and Ducks Unlimited, participants learned about wildlife conservation through activities, trivia, and creative projects like bird feeders and birdhouses. Her project reached more than 230 youth, and she plans to continue expanding its impact through future events and her patch program.
Her accomplishments reflect leadership, citizenship, and foundational skills built through Girl Scouts. “Girl Scouts has been meaningful to me over the past eleven years because all of the important skills it has taught me,” said Alexis. “The experiences I have been able to have, the people I have been able to impact and help, and all the lifelong friends I have made."
Alexis is a junior at Watertown High School with plans to attend college after graduating to major in elementary education. She will receive her award at the council’s Honoring Excellence recognition event to be held on June 14, 2026.
