Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons congratulates Samantha Meehl of Oakes, ND for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award to be achieved in Girl Scouts.
Samantha earned her Gold Award with her Hockenberry Park Equipment Project. Samantha noticed that a popular park in her town was outdated and posed a safety concern for the children playing. She took action to update the park. Working with city officials and community organizers, she was able to gather enough funds to replace the merry-go-round and rocket flyer, along with updating the landscaping.
Samantha will receive her award at the council’s Honoring Excellence recognition event to be held on June 10, 2023.
