Local Girl Scout Selected for National Board
Dakota Horizons' Girl Scout Evalynn L., of Fargo, ND, will be serving on the Girl Scout Advisory Board for the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA).
To be selected, Evalynn had to go through an interview process and stand out from a long list of high-caliber candidates. The Girl Scout Advisory Board is a group of middle and high-school-aged Girl Scouts who make recommendations, contribute to key initiatives, and influence decision-making processes at a national level. Evalynn was one of 10 new members accepted this year. During her two-year term, she will meet monthly to discuss important topics with the group and travel to the Edith Macy Center in Chappaqua, New York for an in-person retreat.
A little bit about Evalynn:
Evalynn will be an eighth grader during the 2024-25 school year. She’s been a Girl Scout since she was in kindergarten. During that time, Evalynn earned both her Bronze and Silver Award. Additionally, she serves as a member of the council’s Girl Advisory Board (GAB).
Evalynn‘s favorite part of Girl Scouts is attending camp. This past fall Evalynn and her troop participated in a primitive camping experience where they camped in hammock tents. While at school, Evalynn is a member of the Student Ambassadors, Book Club, Science Olympiad, the school musical, junior varsity golf, and junior varsity tennis.
Evalynn loves to think of new ideas to solve problems and to help others. When she grows up, she wants to attend college to become a meteorologist.
