April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and April 22 marks Girl Scout Leader's Day — a time to celebrate the dedicated leaders and mentors who make Girl Scouts possible. We're honoring YOU all month long, so watch your mailbox, email, and social media for some special ways we're saying thank you. You make Girl Scouts shine!
Be ready for anything — get CPR/AED/First Aid certified! Many Girl Scout activities require a general first aider on hand: an adult volunteer with Girl Scout–approved first aid and CPR training. You can find a full list of activities that require a first aider in Safety Activity Checkpoints.
The Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning course equips you to recognize and respond to a wide range of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.
To honor the dedication of our incredible volunteers, we are thrilled to offer Years of Service Award Pins to those who have given 5 or more years of service!
If you've been volunteering with Girl Scouts for 5 or more years, you've earned this recognition — request your pin today, and we'll mail it directly to you!
Service units are led by dedicated volunteers who work alongside council staff to build a strong Girl Scout community. Each spring, service units hold elections to select their leadership team for the upcoming membership year. All volunteers are able to hold a service unit position, provided they meet the guidelines outlined in the volunteer position description.
Ready to make a difference? Contact your service unit or your Member Engagement Manager for more information!
GSDH is excited to introduce Lindsey Kringen. Lindsey is our new Member Engagement Manager for the Sioux Falls area. She is based in the Sioux Falls Service Center. We welcome you to take your troop camping, get away for a few days, plan a special event, or participate in a team-building experience at a GSDH Camp Property. Council schedules Girl Scout camps throughout the summer, but there are plenty of rental dates available for troops looking to book their next adventure. Camp properties are available for rent from May (depending on the weather) through September.
Thrivent customers, this is your reminder!
