Local Girl Scouts recently rolled up their sleeves to help refresh Armour Elementary and Armour High School through a school beautification project focused on improving the school grounds.
Fifteen Girl Scouts worked together to redesign the landscaping outside the gym entrance and around the school’s flagpole. The girls removed old rock and overgrown plants before adding new landscape fabric, edging, rock, and plants to create welcoming spaces for students, staff, and visitors.
The gym entrance holds special meaning for the school community, as it is often used for graduation photos, while the updated flag pole landscaping will help preserve an area that sees daily use from students raising and lowering the flag.
The project was supported through the Girl Scout Impact Fund and gave the girls an opportunity to make a lasting impact in their community.
“Doing this makes our school look beautiful, and that is important because we go here,” shared Girl Scout Linleigh.
Throughout the project, the girls shared plenty of laughs and teamwork, including one Girl Scout naming the newly planted grasses “Bob, Jimmy Jr., Myra, and Strawberry.”
Through projects like this, Girl Scouts continue to build leadership skills while making a difference in their communities.
