Comfort food was on the menu, and so were leadership skills for Girl Scouts from Troop 76313 in Box Elder, SD. The troop hosted a Troop Dinner Party where the girls took the lead from start to finish.
The girls planned every detail of the evening. They created invitations and welcomed their families, developed a menu, built a budget, shopped for ingredients, and cooked the entire meal themselves. Guests enjoyed a delicious spread that included a charcuterie board, beef stew, chicken soup, homemade rolls, sourdough bread, pumpkin pie, and homemade whipped topping.
Beyond the great food, the experience helped girls work toward important badge goals. Two Girl Scout Ambassadors earned their Dinner Party badge. One Senior completed four out of five requirements for her Locavore badge, and one Cadette started earning her New Cuisines badge. The Senior and Cadette left the dinner with clear plans to finish their remaining badge requirements at home.
This Troop Dinner Party was more than a meal. It was a hands-on opportunity for girls to build confidence, practice teamwork, and gain real-world skills that will serve them well far beyond the kitchen.
